Where can I get advice on improving my academic writing?
Answer
In the first instance, you might want to submit your essay to Studiosity to obtain general feedback on your written work. This service is available 2/47 and is available to all students, at all levels, at Queen Mary. There is a limit of 10 submissions per academic year.
The Academic Skills Team can also offer support on academic writing to students of all disciplines. You can access online study resources on various aspects of academic writing and check the workshop calendar to see what taught sessions are coming up.
You can also access one-to-one support on academic writing where you can get advice on academic writing, planning your writing, style and structure and critical thinking.
The Royal Literary Fund Fellows, an independent service run by professional authors, also offer one-to-one tutorials.
Please note that neither service can provide proofreading. The focus, in tutorials, is on helping you to improve as a writer, rather than on editing a particular piece of work.
