Why does ScienceDirect say I have institutional access when I don't?

Answer

Queen Mary subscribes to some, but not all, resources on the ScienceDirect database.

When you are logged in to ScienceDirect, there is a link next to the 'Sign In' button which says 'You have institutional access'. However, this is access to the database, not necessarily the resource you are looking at. If Queen Mary does not subscribe to the resource you will see a header message saying 'Queen Mary University of London does not subscribe to this content'.

To check if Queen Mary subscribes to the journal you need on a different database, use the e-journals by Subject list (accessible from the library homepage).

If you need access to a resource that Queen Mary does not subscribe to, see our FAQ What should I do if Queen Mary Library doesn't have the item I am looking for?
