Annotating and note-making in e-books
Answer
It is possible to make notes, annotations, and highlights in many of the e-books we have in the Library. Each e-book platform has slightly different ways of doing this, and instructions for the three most common providers we use in Queen Mary Library Services are below. For more information, please contact the e-resources team.
VLeBooks (web version)
You can highlight text in a range of colours, and add notes to highlighted sections.
On the left-hand side, you can see a list of all of your annotations.
It's also possible to bookmark sections, which is useful for identifying specific places on a page. Bookmarked sections will also appear in the annotations list.
ProQuest Ebook Central
You can highlight, add notes and add bookmarks.
The star on the left side of the page shows your highlighted passages and notes. You will need to sign in to annotate, and will be taken to the Queen Mary login page.
EBSCO
EBSCO does not offer highlighting tools. You can add a note by highlighting your desired passage, and going to the ‘My Notes’ section on the left. You will need to sign into an EBSCO account to save your notes.
