Visitors standard reply - Rejecting an application (UoL applicant)

Answer

Dear <insert name>,

Thank you for your interest in visiting Queen Mary libraries.

Unfortunately, your application for Temporary Membership has been denied.

During term time our study spaces are in high demand. In order to give Queen Mary users priority, access to our libraries is restricted to visitors demonstrating genuine research needs, for example, a need to access specific books from our collection to carry out specified research.

Your online application either did not include enough details about your research topic or the books you require, or did not provide adequate reasons for wanting to use our libraries.

However, as a University of London student, you are eligible to use our libraries once per academic year using our One Day Pass scheme. You do not need to demonstrate a genuine research need for this scheme. This will enable you to explore the resources held in our collections to identify those that might be relevant to your research area if you choose to reapply for temporary membership.

If your institution participates in the SCONUL Access scheme you may be eligible to apply for SCONUL Access. For more information see: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/library/using-library-services/access-and-membership/sconul-access-for-non-queen-mary-users/

Please bear in mind that external visitors are not able to borrow books, and do not have access to PCs or electronic resources, including Wi-Fi.

Should you need further assistance, please do get in touch.

Kind regards,
