How do I reserve (hold) a book?
How to place a hold (reservation) on a library item.
Answer
If all of the copies of an item you need are on loan to other readers, you can place a hold and we will notify you by email when it becomes available. Certain categories of material cannot be reserved: one day loans; theses; reference books; and journals.
To place a hold:
- Find the item on Library Search
- Click the 'Place Hold' button
- Enter your library barcode and PIN
You can check the status of your hold on your online Library Account.
You will receive an email notifying you when the book is ready for collection. You will have 3 days to collect it.
For information about collecting your hold see our FAQ How do I collect a book I have requested?
